A group of Iraq War veterans with “Live Free or Die” spirit and patriotic gusto are crafting inspired suds in Merrimack, N.H.
Able Ebenezer Brewing Co. opened June 14, 239 years to the day after the Continental Army was born. The brewery’s founders are former U.S. Army officers: Zach Rand is a New England native; Carl Soderberg was born and raised in Washington, D.C.; head brewer Mike Frizzelle hails from Los Angeles.
“We like the values that New Hampshire stands for,” said Frizzelle.
Able Ebenezer has quickly displayed innovative flair. Its top-selling beer is Burn the Ships Smoked India Pale Ale, crafted with autumnal cherrywood-smoked malts. It’s a rare and largely untapped stylistic twist for a nation of beer consumers with an insatiable appetite for IPA of all kinds.
